The Tooth Place welcomes kids of all ages!

Dental visits can be a scary thing especially for kids. On top of that, kids' needs are unique when it comes to communication and dental treatment. We understand this! We offer family dentistry with a whole lot of patience and comfort.

We know that children require proper care and attention when visiting the dentist.

At The Tooth Place, we always go the extra mile to ensure that your children are comfortable.

Oral Exams and Cleanings

When should I schedule my child’s first dental visit?

A child’s first dental visit can be scheduled as early as 6 months of age. There are important things we need to share with you about your child’s oral hygiene and oral development. We want your child to become familiar with their dental home at an early age.

What will happen at my child’s dental visit?

We will carefully evaluate your child’s oral health. We will check teeth, gums and jaw. We will take your child’s age into consideration when deciding what digital x-rays to take and what type of teeth cleaning to do.

Fluoride (also known as nature’s cavity fighter) is a naturally occurring mineral. It strengthens teeth enamel and makes it more resistant to acid attacks that cause cavities. Fluoride can also help to rebuild (remineralize) weakened tooth enamel and reverse early signs of cavities.

Dental Sealants

What does a dental sealant do?

A dental sealant is a protective coating that seals grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. Once placed, sealants protect teeth from catching food, plaque and bacteria. This protection can prevent tooth decay and avoid the need for future dental treatment. We recommend sealants for kids, teenagers and even adults.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

What is a tooth-colored filling?

A tooth-colored filling is made of a composite resin and is used to restore a tooth once the cavity is cleaned out. This filling will blend with the color of other teeth. A tooth-colored filling will typically take longer to place than a silver (amalgam) filling. It bonds to the tooth with an adhesive.

Nitrous Oxide

What is Nitrous Oxide?

Nitrous Oxide (also known as laughing gas) is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a mask that fits over the nose. It is used to help you relax during dental procedures. Nitrous Oxide is not intended to put you to sleep. The effects of Nitrous Oxide are quickly reversed.

Who can benefit from braces and why?

We believe children, teenagers and adults deserve beautiful, healthy smiles. Crooked teeth can make brushing and flossing difficult leading to cavities and unhealthy gums. A “bad” bite can lead to jaw joint problems, chewing problems, and affect how we look.

What is the difference between ceramic and metal braces?

Metal braces use brackets and wires to apply pressure to teeth causing them to move. Ceramic (clear) braces work like metal braces, using brackets and wires to move teeth but are less noticeable than metal braces. Ceramic braces usually cost more than metal braces.

What is an aligner?

An aligner is a custom made, clear, plastic tray. Aligners are a great option for adults who do not want to wear metal braces. The trays can be removed when you eat and brush your teeth. You will be given new aligners every few weeks as your treatment progresses.

Phase 1 Orthodontics

What is Phase 1 Orthodontics?

Sometimes, braces are started before all baby teeth have fallen. In these cases, when bite problems or crowding issues are corrected early, more severe problems can be avoided in the future. An orthodontic consultation can be done as early as age 7 to determine if Phase 1 Orthodontics is needed.

Athletic Mouth Guards

What is an athletic mouth guard?

An athletic mouth guard is a custom made, flexible appliance used by athletes to protect against cheek, tongue, and jaw and other mouth injuries that can occur during sports activities.

Space Maintainers

What happens if my child loses a baby tooth before it’s time?

When a baby tooth is lost early and the permanent tooth is not ready to erupt, a space maintainer will be needed to maintain that space for the permanent tooth.
