OUR STUDIO SERVICES
What happens during oral exam?
During an oral exam, we will carefully evaluate your oral health. Cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer are some of the things we will check for during your exam. We recommend an oral exam two times a year.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Why do I need x-rays?
X-rays are an aid to an oral exam. The x-rays we take in our office are digital, which means less radiation exposure. These x-rays help us see parts of teeth invisible to the naked eye like surfaces where teeth contact and areas underneath fillings and crowns. They help us determine the health of your teeth, gums and jawbone.
Are there different types of teeth cleanings?
Yes, there are different types of teeth cleanings. The type of teeth cleaning we will recommend depends on your gum health. A standard cleaning will remove plaque and tartar buildup at and above the gumline and will polish enamel to remove stains. We recommend this type of teeth cleaning two times a year. Scaling and Root Planing (also known as a deep cleaning) will remove plaque and tartar buildup above and below the gumline. When gum disease is diagnosed, a standard cleaning is not enough. In order to stop gum disease from progressing, all the plaque and tartar buildup above and below the gumline must be removed.
What does a dental sealant do?
A dental sealant is a protective coating that seals grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to help prevent tooth decay. Once placed, sealants protect teeth from catching food, plaque and bacteria. Sealants are a great way to save time and money by protecting teeth agains the need for future dental treatment. We recommend sealants for kids, teenagers and even adults.
Do I need a fluoride treatment?
Fluoride (also known as nature’s cavity fighter) is a naturally occurring mineral. It strengthens teeth enamel and makes it more resistant to acid attacks that cause cavities. Fluoride can also help to rebuild (remineralized) weakened tooth enamel and reverse early signs of cavities.
